Most of the lands are covered by floods & exploited by rainfed, irrigated & agricultural forest. The souther eastern parts of it is characterized with mountains, hills & swamps. Rainfall ranges between 600 ~ 1500-mm

Practices: Due to the rich forests - this zone is characterized by the existance of wild-game. Sorghum, sesame, groundnut, cassafa, rice, coffeetea, and tobacco are cultivated. Teak, timber wood and forest wealth are produced in this zone

hill mountain Desert & Semi-desert Zone

It is composed of hills, rocks & sands, the average rainfall is less than 100-mm. There are 298,000-km² semi-desert in which mean rainfall is 225-mm

Practices: Direct Planting, transplanting & propagate vegetatively some fruit crops, broadcasting & drilling field crops. Wheat & Faba been cultivated by the floods in Hud es-Sileim. Datepalm fruit planed in the Nile banks. Commercial raifed semi-mechanized farming production is practised, mainly sorghum plantation followed by sesame, groundnut & hibiscus (Karkade)

plains Poor and Dense Savanna Zone

Rainfall ranges between 300 ~ 1,500-mm. The vegetation is mainly ranges, perennials & some acacias, the agricultural system is the traditional rainfed for growing sorghum, millet, groundnuts & Gum Arabic. Central parts of it composed of cracky clay lands which are considered as main agricultural lands for rainfed & irrigated agriculture in addition to ranges. In the southern parts common agricultural system is the forest for timber of range area as well as domestic area

Practices: Traditional rainfed farming subsitance production is practised, mainly sorghum, milet and limited areas under horticultural crops. Traditional raifed is practised mainly sorghum and sesame. Irrigated Truck-Production is mainly practised in which cotton, groundnut and wheat is cultivated. Mainly Truck-Production is pratised for sorghum, it is semi-mechanized, illicit wood cut is practised affecting badly the forests.
