Inoculate seed with rhizobia when needed; supply phosphorus and potassium — legumes often need less N.
Use a low-N starter if soils are very poor; excess N reduces nodulation.
Maintain K and micronutrients (e.g. Mo, B where deficient); irrigate to reduce flower drop.
