Semiarid fresh winter
The Ridge is characterized by its hilly terrain and plains with fragile soils. The eastern part is dominated by vast mountains separated by plains. These plains are irrigated and the mountains are covered with forests and Alfa (Stipa tenacissima). At the base of the mountains there are calci soil-encrusted magnesian limestone and brown shades. These soils were formed in more arid climatic conditions, they are poor in organic matter, rocky, and often eroded. The average annual rainfall is between 400 and 600 mm
