Where Red clover grows in Korea DPR
Eastern coastal
The region is extended along the seaside of Korean Eastern Sea and the clilmate is influenced from the ocean climate and flood is very frequent. Average rainfall ranges between 1000-1300 mm, maximun to 1800 mm in some areas. Temperature is lower than the western part and cold damage against crop could be often. Soil is sand or sandy loam.
Northern uplands
It is composed by high mountains and upland with more than 800-1000 m a.s.l. Growing season in the area is rather shorter than that in other parts. Winter is long and severe and only one crop is possible in a year. Most of arable area is on the steep slop and soil is clay or loam soil.
Western lowlands
The region is located in the Western part of the country where the land is relatively low and flat. Majority of the paddy fields are displayed in this region. Climate is continental one with very distinct four seasons. It has approxiamtely 1000-1200 mm of rainfall, coming mainly in July and August. Soil is sandy loam in lowland and clay loam in dry field.
